• Samsung: 5C is drain, 4C is water supply, dC is the door, Ub or UE is an unbalanced load.
• LG: OE is drain, IE is water inlet, UE is unbalanced, dE is the door, LE is the motor.
• Bosch and Siemens: E18 is drain, E17 is water inlet.

Switch off at the wall for a minute to reset. If the code comes back, the fault is real.

Five Checks Before You Call

1. Clean the pump filter. Once a month, with a tray and towels ready.
2. Check the taps and hoses. Taps fully open, no kinks, and the little mesh screens where the hose meets the machine rinsed clean.
3. Rebalance the load. One bath mat or duvet cannot balance on its own. Add a couple of towels.
4. Just moved house? Look at the back for three or four transit bolts. They must come out before use and go back in before the next move.
5. Use less detergent, and only powder or liquid marked for automatic machines.
